Dear EUSD Families,

We hope you’ve enjoyed a restful summer break! We are looking forward to welcoming students back to school on August 9 for the start of the 2022-2023 school year. As we’ve previously shared, there are some exciting additions to EUSD, including the expansion of our extended learning programs, the launch of full-day Transitional Kindergarten, and new websites and a mobile app.

The new district and school websites have a fresh look and feel, with all of the important content that you expect. Every school now has a presence on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, where we will also share updates, features, and more.

The new EUSD app is an easy way to stay up-to-date on school news and events. Getting connected with the mobile app is essential for ensuring that parents and guardians stay informed about all things happening in their child’s classroom, on campus, and around the district. We are eager to help with this process. Please read on for details and to get to know all the app’s features, including Rooms, which is our new classroom communication system.

What is Rooms? The classroom communication tool Rooms is available inside the same EUSD app. In Rooms, parents and guardians can message teachers, and students can ask their teacher school-related questions in a monitored, safe place. Rooms is now the standard classroom messaging app across the district, and replaces other apps that have been in use, such as Remind and Class Dojo.

  • The Rooms feature requires an account. All families will receive an email with an invitation to join Rooms on the evening of August 3. Follow the steps in the invitation to create your account.

  • Once you have set up your Rooms account through the invitation, you can log in to Rooms in the EUSD app on your mobile device or go to edurooms.com on a computer to log in.

  • Rooms is the place where teacher and classroom assignments will be posted for the 2022-2023 school year.

    • For students enrolled in elementary schools, Quantum Academy, and Limitless Learning Academy, classroom and teacher assignments will be available in Rooms on the evening of August 5.

    • For students enrolled in middle schools, class assignments will be available in Rooms on the evening of August 8. Be sure to download the EUSD app by August 3 to activate your Rooms account in order to have access to this information.

  • Once you’re logged in and have access to your child’s classes and teacher(s), you will be able to monitor teacher and student messages and announcements.

  • Contact your school site if you have any questions.

What are ThrillShare Alerts? As part of the district’s transition to a new website and mobile app, we are now using the ThrillShare Alerts tool to send mass notifications and important timely information through email, text message, or phone call for all families. The ThrillShare Alerts messages will go to the contact numbers and emails that families provide during their child’s school registration.

We are excited to be able to provide these innovative resources to ensure effective and timely communication for our families and teachers.

We look forward to seeing your students on August 9! You may check your school’s bell schedule here. Our school offices are now open to the public, with our friendly staff available to answer any questions. If you have not yet registered your new or returning student, please visit our Registration webpage.

School supplies: The district provides all school supplies that are needed for every student to succeed in school. This includes a district-issued iPad for all students in all grade levels. You may receive a “wish list” for your child’s classroom; however, these are simply requests and not mandatory for you to provide. At home, it’s recommended that children have access to a quiet place to do homework. Should you need any supplies for home – such as pencils, a notebook, or crayons – please let your child’s teacher know or contact your school’s family liaison or school social worker.

TK extended care: Before- and after-school care programs will be available at all elementary schools for students enrolled in Transitional Kindergarten. To join the interest list for the no-cost program, please complete this form or click the QR code available on this informational flyer. Space is limited, and priority enrollment will be given to students who are eligible for free or reduced-priced meals, who are in foster care, or are experiencing homelessness.

Sincerely,

Luis Rankins-Ibarra
