It was so wonderful to welcome back everyone for the first week of school! There were many happy and excited students throughout the district. A huge thank you to our teachers, staff, and parent volunteers who made the first week of school exciting!
This year, we produced a video to showcase our Framework for the Future as a way to launch the 2024-25 school year. You’re invited to view a video to showcase our 'Framework for the Future.'.
Back to school nights: Back to school nights are underway around the district. For event times and dates, be sure to check your school’s website or look for a reminder in Rooms on the EUSD mobile app.
Attendance is meaningful: Every day counts when it comes to student success! September is recognized as Attendance Awareness Month, and we appreciate your support and encouragement for consistent student attendance. Every student is a valued member of our school community. Daily and on-time school attendance not only helps support our students' connection to school and learning, it is a key indicator of future success. Absences are understandable when a student is sick. However, missing 10 percent or just two days a month can cause a child to fall behind academically or feel disconnected from school. When students miss school, they are missed by their classmates and the caring adults on campus. Our district has numerous resources to support families. Please do not hesitate to contact your school site if you are experiencing any challenges with your child's daily school attendance.
Absence notifications: In order to create a more uniform notification process for attendance, families of students in TK through 8th grade will receive automated phone calls at 10:15 a.m. on days when their student is absent from school.
Preschool applications: Preschool applications: EUSD State Preschool is still accepting online applications for the 2024-2025 school year. Visit the preschool website to access the application. Applications will be accepted for children who will be age 3 by December 1, 2024. If your child will turn 3 during the 2024-2025 school year, you can apply on or after their birthday. Preschool classes are available at seven EUSD elementary schools: Central, Juniper, Glen View, Lincoln, Oak Hill, Pioneer, and Rose. EUSD Preschool is offered through the California State Preschool Program and licensed through the California Department of Social Services. Eligibility for the program is based on household income; however, there are additional opportunities for families who may qualify to participate in the EUSD State Preschool Program based on residing within the boundaries of one of our sites. In addition, students with IEPs also qualify for the State Preschool program. To learn more, visit the EUSD Preschool website or email preschoolenrollment@eusd.org. View the application here. Important dates: EUSD schools and the district office will be closed on Monday, September 2, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Classes resume on Tuesday, September 3.
