This announcement serves as a public notice that the Escondido Union School District Board of Education at its regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. April 11, 2024, will conduct a public hearing to discuss an update to statutory school facility fees – commonly known as developer fees – that are assessed on new residential, commercial, and industrial construction. 

The board is seeking public comment before consideration of its report, titled “Residential and Commercial/Industrial Development School Fee Justification Study for Escondido Union School District,” and consider adopting a resolution of the board to update statutory school facility fees on new residential and commercial and industrial construction, pursuant to Education Code Section 17620 and Government Code Section 65995. 

The fee study justifying the update is on file at the Carilyn Gilbert Education Center, 2310 Aldergrove Avenue, Escondido. The study will be available for public review from March 29 through April 11. For questions regarding the fee study or the public hearing, contact Cindy Kroon at 760-432-2400

The public hearing will be held in the District Office Board Room, 2310 Aldergrove Avenue. The hearing will be open to the public in person and via Zoom. Each speaker who wishes to address the board must complete a “Request to be Heard” card located on the table at the entrance to the boardroom. Place the completed card at the recording secretary’s workstation. 

Comments must not exceed three minutes or 450 words in length. The board shall limit the total time for public input on each item to 20 minutes. The Board of Education is prohibited by law from taking action on matters discussed that are not on the agenda.
