Family Engagement

The Escondido Union School District (EUSD) values and honors the important role parents and family members have in ensuring the academic and personal success of all students. For this reason, every EUSD school offers a range of programs, services, and activities throughout the year that build capacity, bridge connection, and encourage ongoing input and collaboration with parents and families. By working together, all EUSD students will achieve their unlimited potential.

DISTRICT FAMILY ENGAGEMENT POLICY

The Escondido Union School District's Family Engagement Policy highlights the many ways parents and family members are active partners in our school community. The district’s Coordinator of Community Schools worked with the district’s Family Liaison Team, the District Advisory Committee, and English Language Advisory Committee to develop this policy. The policy is available for review online in English and in Spanish.

CONTACT YOUR SCHOOL'S FAMILY LIAISON

Every EUSD school has a Family Liaison who serves as a point of contact for parents and family members and who coordinates family engagement activities at the school. If you have any questions regarding either district-wide or school-specific programs, please contact your school’s Family Liaison.

COFFEE WITH THE PRINCIPAL

Every EUSD school hosts Coffee with the Principal and/or other input meetings throughout the year for the purpose of encouraging dialogue between school leaders, parents, and family members on a variety of school-related topics.

CURRICULUM-BASED FAMILY EVENTS

Every EUSD school hosts hands-on learning events for families based on the California State Standards.

FAMILY DAYS AT LUNCH AND LEARN

Parents and/or family members are encouraged to attend lunch at school with their child at least once a year. During these planned events at the school sites, parents and/or family members have the opportunity to learn relevant information needed to support their child's success in their current grade level, enjoy special time with their child, and access important school and community resources.

FAMILY WORKSHOPS

Family workshops provide opportunities for learning information and skills to support a child's academic and personal success. EUSD schools offer a variety of workshops, parenting classes, and customized trainings covering a range of topics throughout the year. Please check with your child's school for specific Family Workshop times and locations.

FAMILY AND COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS

A variety of volunteer opportunities are available at each of our EUSD schools to meet the interests of our family and community members. For more information on how your unique skill or experience can benefit students at one of our local schools, or to connect with a volunteer opportunity that fits your schedule, please contact your school’s Family Liaison.

FAMILY LEADERSHIP

Parents and family members are encouraged to serve as leaders and decision makers at all of our EUSD schools through participation in Parent Teacher Association (PTA), School Site Council (SSC), English Language Advisory Council (ELAC), and at some of our schools, in the Community Schools Advisory Committee (CSAC). For more information on how to get involved as a leader at your school, please contact your school’s Family Liaison.
