A lifelong resident of Escondido, Mr. Paulson has worked for more than 20 years as a high school math, science, and English teacher in Escondido. A former deputy sheriff, National Park Service ranger, and Peace Corps volunteer, Mr. Paulson spends his time working on social justice issues and improving the lives of families in poverty. He met his wife, Adriana, in Uruguay. They have four children in college, all of them alumni of Escondido public schools.

Zesty was born and raised in Escondido. She attended California State University, San Marcos, where she graduated with a Bachelors in Liberal Arts and received her teaching credential. Zesty taught 5th and 6th grade in Escondido and worked one-on-one with under-served youth in the community.

Zesty has a passion for working to ensure that all Escondido students receive a quality public education. Zesty is married to her husband, John, and is mom to Aubrey, Lilly, and Penny. When not attending EUSD functions, you can probably find Zesty at the softball fields cheering on her daughters..

Mr. Olson grew up in North County and has been a resident of Escondido for more than 15 years. Through his more than 20-year career as a Parks and Recreation Director for multiple public agencies, as a community volunteer, and as a father of four, Mr. Olson has seen the important role public education plays in educating the whole child. He is committed to providing Escondido families the best opportunities for a quality education. He and his wife Joanne are the parents of three sons and one daughter, all of whom have attended Escondido public schools.

Frank, an officer with the Escondido Police Department, has lived and worked in Escondido for nearly 30 years. Through his work with the Police Department, Frank has developed presentations for local elementary schools that foster positive interactions with law enforcement and promote safety. For the past five years, he has volunteered as a youth basketball coach for the Police Athletic League and City of Escondido Recreation. Four of his children have attended EUSD schools.

Mrs. Gardner has lived in Escondido since 1983 and has served on EUSD’s Board of Education continuously since first being elected in 1998. She is a retired small business owner and the mother of five sons.
