CAASPP California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress

CAASPP Testing

The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress or CAASPP is given each year to 3rd to 5th grade students in April/May. This is a computer-based adaptive assessment that measures each student’s progress in English language arts and Mathematics. 5th and 8th grade students also take a Science assessment. Our daily testing window is 4/29 - 5/9 from 8:15 - 9:45 AM for ELA and Math. 5th graders will also take Science 5/12 - 5/14.

Students will need:

  • a fully charged iPad

  • headphones

  • a healthy snack

  • to be on time for school

Note: Students arriving after 8:15 AM will not be allowed in the testing session and will be required to complete the assessments during make-up testing sessions.

If you want to help your child do their best, we recommend:

  • a good night’s rest

  • a healthy breakfast

  • goal setting with your child

  • sharing why state assessments are important

  • discussing strategies for when something is challenging

  • encouragement to do their best

  • completing a practice tests at home (see below)
