Staff and students are making Every Day Count in EUSD with so many exciting things happening across our district! In EUSD, as we work to implement the Framework for the Future (PDF), staff are committed to providing real-world learning opportunities for all students that highlight possible career pathways. All sixth-grade students in EUSD participate in Crash into Science, an immersive conservation program in partnership with the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. This program is centered around the real-world phenomenon: The Northern White Rhino is functionally extinct. Students engage in two unique experiences with Safari Park educators: a virtual session where they connect with a wildlife care specialist at the Rhino Rescue Center and a field trip to the Safari Park. During the visit, students attend a conservation lesson and explore the park to see the animals they’ve been studying. In this program, students step into the role of conservation scientists and learn about groundbreaking science topics happening worldwide!
As part of our after-school enrichment program, EUSD students have the chance to participate in Flag Rugby and develop teamwork, athletic skills, and a love for the game. To celebrate our partnership with our local professional rugby team, San Diego Legion is offering EUSD students free tickets to their home game on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Torero Stadium, University of San Diego. Plus, parents and family members can join in on the excitement with specially discounted tickets for just $10 each! Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to experience professional rugby at a great price! To reserve your tickets, please complete this Google Form by March 5.
And as we end our second trimester and move into our last portion of the year, it’s time to think about summer! The EUSD Expanded Learning Program is thrilled to offer No-Cost Summer Programs for students currently enrolled in Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through 7th grade! This year, we are excited to provide up to five weeks of engaging summer learning through:
Summer Academic & Enrichment Program (19 days) - June 23-July 18, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for current TK-7th grade students
Post-Summer Enrichment Camps (5 days) - July 21-July 25, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for current TK-7th grade students
Camp Surf (5 days, 6 nights) - July 27-August 1 (this is only offered to current 7th grade students)
An email with interest forms will be sent to all families on Monday, March 3, 2025. Space is limited, and if interest exceeds capacity, a random lottery will be conducted. Priority enrollment is given to homeless and foster youth, students eligible for free/reduced-price meals, and English Learners. Families will receive enrollment status notifications (enrolled or waitlisted) by mid-April.
We look forward to providing students with a fun, interactive, and safe summer experience!
Here are this week’s updates and reminders:
Report cards: The second trimester concluded on February 28, and report cards will be issued on Friday, March 7. Report cards for elementary school students will be distributed at school. Report cards for middle school students will be delivered by mail.
EUSD Flag Rugby League is back! Through our continued partnership with the San Diego Legion, we’re excited for another season of Flag Rugby at EUSD! Students have already kicked off practices twice a week after school and are preparing for their first game on March 1 at Rincon Middle School. This program is a fantastic opportunity for students to build teamwork, stay active, and develop new skills—all while families come together to cheer them on in a fun and supportive environment. We hope to see you out there to cheer on your school! Here are links to the schedules: Flag Rugby Elementary Flyer (PDF) / Flag Rugby Middle School Flyer (PDF)
