Happy New Year, EUSD!
Don’t forget that school resumes tomorrow, Tuesday, January 7, 2025, because Every Day Counts in EUSD! We are so excited to welcome your students back tomorrow, and we hope that everyone had a long and restful winter break!
FIRST LEGO League Regional Competition: We are thrilled to share that five EUSD teams recently competed at the FIRST LEGO League Regional event, an incredible accomplishment for our young robotics programs! On Saturday, December 14, Reidy Creek, Rincon, Del Dios, and Mission Middle School teams competed at High Tech High Mesa, and on Sunday, December 15, Central Elementary represented EUSD at Poway High School. All teams performed exceptionally well, with Mission Middle School placing 7th at High Tech High Mesa and improving their top robot score by 75 points since the November Qualifying Event, reaching an impressive 320. While none of our teams advanced to the next level, qualifying five of seven teams for regionals is a testament to the hard work, growth, and creativity of our students and their coaches. These achievements highlight how EUSD is fostering empowered learners and empathetic collaborators ready to thrive in the future! We are so proud of all their accomplishments!
eSports Virtual Fall Championship: On Wednesday, December 11, all middle schools and Quantum Academy participated in an exciting Virtual Esports Championship. This event showcased the talent, teamwork, and competitive spirit of our students as they faced off in various games. These teams practice after school in our Expanded Learning Opportunities Program. Students who take this after-school class have the unique opportunity to not only play competition-level video games, but also learn about careers in the gaming industry. Each school will be starting a new season in February! Check out your school’s after-school enrichment opportunities to sign up for this program.
