Learners Create a Beautiful Space

Greetings Conway Community,

An EPIC celebration of the collaborative work of ArtReach, EUSD Expanded Learning, YMCA, and Conway learners took place this week.

The dedication ceremony lifted students’ voices as they shared input and brought to life this high quality example of their learning.

Student,  Brianna Barard, explained how meaningful the process and experience allowed them to see themselves in the work. She stated, “it’s a reflection of us and how we are getting smart by doing good for our school and community.”

We are so grateful and thank ArtReach and the talents of their muralist, Izzy, for hearing the students and staff’s ideas and providing the foundation for students to bring this piece to life. And thank you to the YMCA for the collaboration and opportunity to extend our crew into our after school programs and create this beautiful space.

Dedication

Dr. Ibarra engaged deeply with Conway learners on Tuesday about their expeditions by asking critical questions. Learners eagerly shared documentation walls and how they collaborate to make meaning with harder concepts.

Valentine's Day is  just around the corner and I know students are looking for ways to share kindness, friendship, and our crew spirit with each other.  For those unaware of EUSD’s Wellness Policy and celebrations, I’ve linked the information for you here -  EUSD Wellness Policy

It is important to be mindful of recent flu cases and other illnesses so I ask families to look for alternative goodies for celebrating this holiday.  Students are permitted to bring in items to share with their classmates from home- this includes non-food items (stickers, pencils, fidgets, erasers, tattoo) that can be added to their valentines. Rest assured that, as we have done with other annual festivities, our teachers will continue to creatively infuse joy into learning  as developmentally appropriate.  This includes celebrating love, friendship, and kindness that on Tuesday by wearing red, pink, or hearts, go all out! It is important for families to receive  this message before investing time, effort and/or funds into food related items and then feeling disappointment.  In addition, ASB is also selling Friendship Grams for students to send to purchase and send to their friends.  See the information included in this week’s update.

The health, safety, and well-being of our students remains our priority and I thank you for helping us keep our students healthy and safe.

I am  grateful for the opportunity to inspire students to discover their unlimited potential through Excellence, Perseverance, Integrity, and Compassion.  Together we are creating an EPIC school.  We are in this together and believe, We Are Crew, not passengers.

In Crew,

Principal Meglich

Thank you to all our families that have designated Conway as your charity!

Did you hear that AmazonSmile’s customer-directed donation program will permanently shut down on February 20, 2023?

This means that if your amazon account was linked to Conway Elementary PTA as the recipient donor to the purchases you made, this will be no longer available as of February 20,2023. I know, very sad. Help us show Amazon the impact our purchases can make when they offer these types of programs for the community.
