National Recognition
Week 18 - December 11th, 2022
Greetings Conway Families,
This past week I had the pleasure to travel to Chicago with five other teachers to attend the EL Education National Conference. This is an annual event for the EL Education community of educators. After seven years of implementation of this incredible educational model, I am proud to announce that Conway has earned the full EL Education Credential in all three dimensions of student achievement – mastery of knowledge and skills, character, and high-quality student work.
Conway and two other schools were recognized for this significant accomplishment along with six other schools that re-credentialled. In August, I announced that Conway had earned the credential in two of the three EL dimensions of student achievement, which is extraordinary on its own. However, after California released all of CAASPP test scores in November, EL Education was able to evaluate Conway's eligibility for the full credential. Our students are achieving at remarkable levels, even post pandemic. Even more remarkable, Conway is the first fully EL Credentialed school in Southern California.
Conway is a project-based learning speciality school that focuses on impact in three dimensions of achievement equally. We implemented the Expeditionary Learning model, now known as EL Education, in 2015. Our staff crew is dedicated to creating a school that exemplifies our vision that ALL learners will discover their unlimited potention through Excellence, Perseverance, Integrity, and Compassion and we live our motto, we are all crew, not passengers, as we work together and believe, EPIC is the only way to be. “Through the deep implementation of the EL Core Practices, Conway has demonstrated remarkable student outcomes.
Congratulations to Lori Cisterna and Kailee Ennis for leading their first learning lab session titled, From Becoming Trauma-Informed to cultivating Post-Tramatic Growth at the EL Education Conference. Way to be EPIC CREW!
Take a moment to watch one of the videos featured at the EL National conference and see the work in action. Inspiring Student Achievement in 3 Dimensions. We are so proud of our students and I am so proud of our dedicated staff crew.
While in Chicago, we had the opportunity to visit an exceptional highly regarded EL School, Polaris. Through these site visits, we are able to reflect on our practices and continually improve our EPIC school
We are grateful for the opportunity to inspire students to discover their unlimited potential through Excellence, Perseverance, Integrity, and Compassion. Together we are creating an EPIC school. We are in this together and believe, We Are Crew, not passengers.
In Crew,
Principal Meglich

Typically, students attend the schools that serve the neighborhood attendance areas in which they live. However, EUSD does provide attendance options for parents and students in order to help meet the diverse needs and interests of students within the district.
