Earlier today at approximately 3:15 p.m., the Carilyn Gilbert Education Center building (district office), Del Dios Academy of Arts and Sciences, Limitless Learning Academy, and Rock Springs Elementary were contacted by the Escondido Police Department and placed on an evacuation order due to a Lithium-ion battery fire at a nearby SDG&E facility. Operations were paused, families were contacted to pick up any remaining students on campus, and staff safely left the sites.
In an abundance of caution and due to the unpredictable nature of the fire, we will be canceling any school operations for Friday, September 6th, 2024, at these specific sites only: the Carilyn Gilbert Education Center building (district office), Del Dios Academy of Arts and Sciences, and Rock Springs Elementary. Limitless Learning will only offer virtual instruction and cancel any on campus activities. All other schools will remain open. We will continue to keep you updated and plan to resume classes on Monday, September 8. Any meetings or activities that are affected will be rescheduled.
