Whooping cough (pertussis) has become increasingly widespread in California during the last several years. To help protect your child and others from this serious disease, a new California law now requires students to be vaccinated against whooping cough.
By state law, ALL students beginning seventh-grade in the 2012-2013 school year will need to bring proof of having received the whooping cough booster shot to the school office. Incoming seventh-grade students who do not show proof of receiving the booster shot will not be allowed to start the 2012-2013 school year.
We want to make sure your child starts school on time. We encourage you to:
- Get your child’s whooping cough booster shot now.
- Bring the shot record to your child’s current school. If your child has already received the shot, please make sure the school has a copy of the record.
