EUSD is proud to announce that we’ve been chosen to receive one of California’s leading educational honors, the Golden Bell Award. Our district is one of 56 recipients statewide, and one of four recipients in San Diego County.

Now in their 38th year, The Golden Bell Awards are sponsored by the California School Boards Association (CSBA). The honor recognizes outstanding public school programs that are innovative and sustainable, and utilize best practices that lead to positive student outcomes.

EUSD is receiving the Golden Bell Award in the category of Parental/Community Involvement for our exemplary and innovative Family Engagement Program. This districtwide initiative empowers family members to serve as leaders, participate in learning, and serve as partners in their child’s education. The Program is managed by the district’s coordinator of community outreach, and administered by the family liaisons in the Family Engagement Centers at each of our 23 schools.

In addition to receiving the Golden Bell Award, EUSD also received a $1,000 sponsorship award from the CSBA Principal’s Exchange.

“The Escondido Union School District’s Family Engagement Program exemplifies our district’s vision of creating a culture of partnership and collaboration within our schools. Our families know that they are welcomed to be a part of our school community, and understand that their engagement is an essential component to their child’s success in school and in life.”

A 17-member panel made up of experts from school districts and county offices of education reviewed the written entries and made the initial recommendations for the awards. On-site validators then assessed the programs in action. This year’s awards were presented to school districts and county offices of education that have increased student achievement through after-school programs, mentoring, instructional interventions, use of data, and other innovations.

“The Golden Bell recipients exemplify the spirit of innovation and excellence that all of California’s public schools strive for. The Golden Bell Awards reflect the depth and breadth of outstanding educational offerings in our state, and demonstrate the tenacity, vision, and dedication of school leaders across California.”
