Curriculum and Assessment: Language Assessment Center

Vea en Español

Welcome to the Language Assessment Center. Our mission is to support English language learners on their journey to English language proficiency.

We do this by monitoring student progress on the English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC). Once new students are tested we meet with parents and take time to explain the meaning of their child’s scores.

We also inform parents about the two program options offered to their child: Structured English Immersion or Dual-Language Immersion Program. Parents receive a Parent Handbook that contains additional information about the district.

Whenever possible, beginning students who speak a language other than Spanish will have an orientation assistant fluent in their language to help them adapt to their new school.
