Board of Education: Meetings

Governor Gavin Newsom issued executive orders in March related to governing board meetings. The governor waived the Open Meeting Brown Act requirement for a majority of board members to physically participate in a public board meeting at the same location. Board members now are allowed to participate in board meetings remotely via teleconference during the pandemic. In addition, the requirement to make a physical location available for the public has been eliminated. A district can comply with public attendance and comment requirements by holding a meeting via teleconference, with members of the public allowed to observe and comment telephonically or otherwise electronically.

Meeting setup: EUSD Board of Education meetings will be conducted using the Zoom platform. Click here for directions on joining the meeting. Agendas may be accessed here.

Public comments: Members of the public who wish to address the board on an agenda item or another topic within the board’s jurisdiction must submit their comment via Google form. The link for public comments will be available between 6 p.m. the day before the board meeting and noon on the day of the board meeting. This form also may be accessed in item A.2 or E.1 of the agenda. These comments will be shared with board members before the board meeting. The form asks that you include your name, the agenda item number you are addressing, and whether your written comment should be read aloud. Comments must not exceed three minutes or 450 words in length. The board shall limit the total time for public input on each item to 20 minutes. The Board of Education is prohibited by law from taking action on matters discussed that are not on the agenda.
